The Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) in Thiruvananthapuram is organising a MedTech Ideathon on February 21, with TIMED, the Technology Business Incubator for Medical Devices and Biomaterials at the Biomedical Technology (BMT) wing of the SCTIMST mentoring the programme.

The event is being co-sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology.

The SCTIMST is inviting young teams of medical technology enthusiasts from various organisations to brainstorm, develop, and pitch innovative solutions for real-world unmet medical needs.

The event focusses on conceptualisation, validation and presentation of ideas. The aim is to foster innovation, teamwork, and entrepreneurship. Selected teams will get a chance to interact with the scientists, engineers and doctors of the SCTIMST as well as exposure to the TIMED Incubator.

The event is meant for students (UG/PG) in science, engineering, medical, dental or paramedical streams, who may have an inclination for medical technology. Students, fresh graduates and researchers may also participate. The age limit is 25 years. Registration is free and can be done online.

There will be initial preparatory sessions online, in which the experts will give ideas about the important segments and unmet needs. The ideas should be original, novel, and plagiarism-free.

Teams should submit a detailed abstract or proposal by the deadline. It should include a project description, objectives, novelty, architecture, and societal impact or market feasibility. The last date for idea submission is February 15, through https://www.canvaqr.com/RGA0vv6nZM.

The online preparatory session will be held on February 18. The venue is BMT wing, SCTIMST, Poojappura campus. For details and clarifications, contact: Balram S., SCTIMST-TIMED, at balrams@sctimst.ac.in.
