Telangana State SC Corporation Chairman Preetham Nagarigari advised MRPS founder Manda Krishna Madiga to mend his ways accusing him of joining hands with the BJP to tarnish Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s image.

Speaking to mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, the Congress leader recalled the efforts of Mr. Revanth Reddy for SC categorisation. He said Mr. Revanth not only encouraged the ‘Simha Garjana’ meeting at Parade Grounds but even donated the funds spent on producing the film connected with the event.

According to Mr. Preetham, the demand for categorization predates both MRPS and recent political debates, citing the Lokur Commission’s recommendation from 1965 and reiterating that several State governments had spoken in favour of it in 1975 and 1990.

He went on to accuse Mr. Manda Krishna of abandoning Ambedkarite principles and becoming the advocate of Manusmriti.

The Congress leader claimed that Mr. Manda Krishna had betrayed the Dalit community and questioned his silence during alleged Dalit land grabs under Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao’s rule. Mr. Preetham also contrasted Parliamentary representation of Dalits in the BJP and Congress, pointing out that the BJP offered two Dalit seats out of 13 in the Rajya Sabha, while Congress allotted two out of five.
