The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of Justice Lisa Gill, a Judge at the Punjab and Haryana High Court, as the new Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The recommendation was made during a meeting of the Collegium on February 26, according to its statement. The Collegium, in the statement, said it made a policy decision that a Judge, who is proposed to take over the High Court as its Chief Justice, may be transferred two months before the vacancy arises. This is to strengthen the quality and efficacy of administration of justice, it said. According to information available with the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Lisa Gill is an alumna of the Punjab University, Chandigarh, and was enrolled as an advocate in 1990 and practised at the Punjab and Haryana High Court. She was elevated to the Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in March 2014.
