Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan on Sunday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention for the repatriation of the mortal remains of the two Keralites who died in the flash floods in Oman and to prevail upon the authorities to expedite and strengthen the ongoing rescue efforts. He expressed deep concern regarding the flash floods that struck Oman on Saturday, resulting in the loss of two lives and leaving one woman from Kerala still missing. The victims, Shamla and Yusuf, natives of Thrithala in Kerala, lost their lives when the vehicle they were travelling in was caught in a sudden flash flood in the Al Batinah Governorate. “It is particularly distressing that Ms. Ramla, also from Thrithala, remains missing, and search operations are still under way,” he wrote.
