Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan has promised support to get a prosthetic arm to nine-year-old Vinodini from Pallassana, Palakkad, whose right hand was amputated following alleged medical negligence. He said that necessary arrangements, including financial assistance, will be ensured to get a prosthetic arm for her after coming across media reports that she was not attending school because of her condition. Mr. Satheesan said that he spoke to her parents and assured them of all support. The girl was initially treated at the Government District Hospital, Palakkad, for a hand fracture on September 24 last year, but her condition worsened, leading to amputation at the Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode. The incident had sparked a controversy and the girl’s parents alleged medical negligence by the doctors at District Hospital. The hospital authorities had denied the allegations.
