The Jai Bharat Mata Seva Samiti will organise Amar Balidan Divas on March 23 at Varanasi (Kashi) in Uttar Pradesh to commemorate the martyrdom of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, samiti national spokesperson Vaijnath Zhalki said that the programme will be organised under the leadership of samiti founder president Sri Mallinath Maharaj Nirgudi.

He said that a group of participants will begin their journey on Thursday from Lad Chincholi village in Aland taluk of Kalaburagi. The procession will pass through Bidar and Nanded before reaching Varanasi on March 22.

Nearly 8,000 people are expected to take part in the programme, he said and added that the samiti has made arrangements for vehicles for participants travelling to Varanasi.

Mr. Zhalki said that this will be the fifth year that the samiti is organising the programme. In the previous years, Amar Balidan Divas events were organised in Bengaluru, Delhi, Punjab and Tamil Nadu.

He added that the organisers will halt at major cities and towns along the route to create awareness about the sacrifices made by Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru during India’s freedom struggle.

The main programme will be held in Varanasi on March 23, he said.
