Women facing violence or distress can seek immediate assistance from the “Sakhi One Stop Centre”, said District Collector Sumit Kumar on Monday (January 05, 2026) after inaugurating “Sakhi One Stop Centre mobile vehicle” at the PGRS meeting hall premises in the Collectorate.

The mobile unit is intended to enhance the outreach and facilitate quicker access to services for women in distress across the district.

Addressing officials and staff, Mr. Sumit Kumar said that “Sakhi One Stop Centre” has been established at the Government General Hospital, Chittoor, under a Central government initiative. It would provide integrated support to women affected by violence. He said women can approach the centre without fear or hesitation, irrespective of their social or economic background.

The Collector highlighted that the women’s helpline number 181 is available free of cost and operates round the clock to assist women in distress. He explained that the centre offers a range of services under one roof, including counselling, legal aid, police assistance, medical support, and temporary shelter, all at no cost.
