Sagar tahsildar has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against six staff members of Sagar taluk office on the charges of attempting to forge government documents and allot land to private individuals, violating the rules.

Rashmi Halesh, the tahsildar, acting on a tip-off, entered the records room at her office on March 18 and found that the supervisor engaged in altering the old government records. The staff members were offering benefit to private individuals, allegedly for money.

The tahsildar filed a complaint with the Sagar Town Police Station against the staff and sought an investigation into the allegations.

Taking note of this development, Shivamogga DC Prabhulinga Kavalikatti, in a communique to the media on Friday (March 20, 2026), stated that the district administration would take strict action against those officials engaged in illegal activities.

Further, he appealed to the public to be vigilant of such activities. He also clarified that no one can allot land by altering government records. “The public should not heed such promises from any official,” he stated.
