The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) has announced the re-establishment of State Sports Academies in Visakhapatnam, Kakinada and Tirupati for 2026–27, with selection trials scheduled from April 26. The academies will function as residential and day-boarding centres, offering coaching, boarding and access to training infrastructure. Admissions will be through a merit-based process for athletes aged 15 to 19. Disciplines include athletics, water sports, cycling, gymnastics and hockey.
