Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh(SAAP) Chairman Animini Ravi Naidu on Monday launched the Sports Calendar along with sportspersons at Sri Srinivasa Sports Complex in Tirupati district. He said the SAAP would organise sports events across the State in accordance with the calendar. Marking National Youth Day, Mr. Ravi Naidu paid tributes to the great youth icon Swami Vivekananda and said there was a need to further strengthen sports development in the State by drawing inspiration from his ideals and vision for youth. The SAAP Chairman said the State government would always stand by players for their development and welfare. The Sports Calendar would provide details of various competitions, including Civil Services, Group examinations, other competitive exams, Amaravati League competitions and Khelo India events. He said the calendar would give players advance clarity on sports competitions, training camps and sports development programmes to be organised every month, enabling them to plan their training in a scientific and systematic manner. Mr. Ravi Naidu said the initiative would help athletes move forward with greater commitment towards achieving their goals. The innovative effort by the SAAP would provide a clear direction to the State’s sports sector, with players as the focal point. He said sports awareness programmes would be organised in every district, talented sportspersons would be identified and their future ensured. The months of July and August have been declared as sports months, he added.
