Leaders of Andhra Pradesh Public Transport Department (APPTD-APSRTC) Employees Union on Saturday accorded a warm farewell to C.H. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao on his last day as the Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of the transport corporation. “Mr. Tirumala Rao retired from service after rendering four years and eight months of distinguished service as Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of APSRTC,” said the Union’s State president P. Damodara Rao. “During his tenure, Mr. Tirumala Rao visited 129 depots and four workshops across the State, closely interacted with grassroots-level employees and gave top priority to addressing employees’ issues, Mr. Damodara Rao said in a statement. “He played a key role in boosting the morale and confidence of the RTC employees and steering the organisation forward,” he added. Mr. Tirumala Rao also made a significant contribution to the successful implementation of Stree Shakti scheme introduced by the government, Mr. Damodara Rao said. The employees union felicitated Mr. Tirumala Rao at the RTC House in Vijayawada. The meeting was attended by the union’ s State general secretary G.V. Narasaiah and deputy general secretary M.D. Prasad along with State, zonal and district leaders and women leaders of the union.
