An RTC bus travelling from Hyderabad in Telangana to Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh overturned in the early hours of Thursday (February 19, 2026) at Itikyalapadu, Undavelli mandal of Jogulamba Gadwal district, leaving 20 passengers injured. No casualties were reported.

The bus, which had started its journey from Ameerpet in Hyderabad, met with the accident at around 4 a.m.. According to Undavelli Police Sub-Inspector, Shekhar, the vehicle overturned after the driver allegedly lost control while attempting to swerve towards the left side of the road.

“Preliminary probe suggests that the driver may have been sleepy at the time of the incident, leading to the loss of control,” said the official. The driver, identified as Jairam, was taken into custody for further questioning.

Emergency response teams were immediately pressed into action. The injured passengers were shifted to Kurnool Government Hospital, while some were admitted to a private hospital for treatment. The official informed that all the injured are out of danger. The Undavelli police registered a case and further investigation is underway.
