Police have launched a series of counselling sessions for rowdy-sheeters and persons with criminal backgrounds across several police stations in Chittoor district. Superintendent of Police (SP) Tushar Dudi and Additional SP Rajashekhar Raju launched the initiative here on Sunday as part of intensified efforts to curb criminal activities in the district. Police personnel at the mandal level called rowdy-sheeters, history-sheeters, and persons known for disruptive behaviour to their respective police stations and counselled them to completely refrain from unlawful activities. During the sessions, the police officials stressed that every citizen must respect the law and conduct themselves responsibly in society. Speaking to the media here, the SP cautioned the target group against engaging in assaults, intimidation, and disputes arising out of minor issues, which often escalate into serious law-and-order problems. The SP advised them to resolve conflicts peacefully and lead a respectful life. The Additional SP informed those who had previously been involved in criminal cases to reform their behaviour. He cautioned that any future involvement in illegal activities would invite strict legal action and that police surveillance of rowdy-sheeters would continue across the district.
