Scores of retired police personnel were felicitated during the Police Flag Day celebrations organised in various places of Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Uttara Kannada and Davangere districts on Thursday.

Speaking at the Police Flag Day celebrations at the DAR (District Armed Reserve Police) Parade Grounds in Dharwad on Thursday, retired Sub-Inspector of Police D. Chamundeshwari said that the Police Department stands as a symbol of sacrifice, discipline and time management.

“The discipline, social commitment and punctuality of police personnel enhance the dignity of the force,” she said.

She said that if personnel remember and follow the lessons, rules and values they learn on joining the department throughout their service until retirement, their service will become meaningful and fulfilling.

She stressed the need to create a work environment in all police offices and stations that encourages adaptability, efficiency and compassion.

Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya presented a report on police welfare activities.

On the occasion, several retired police officials and persons were felicitated.

At the Police Flag Day celebrations at Old CAR Parade Ground in Hubballi, retired Sub-Inspector of Police M.A. Pathan emphasied the need for the police personnel to maintain a good rapport with society and listen to complainants patiently when they approach them.

Managing Director of Swarnaa Group of Companies V.S.V. Prasad said that society should be indebted to the policemen as they dedicate their life for maintaining law and order in society.

The former police officer Ravikumar Naik called upon people to contribute generously to the Police Welfare Fund.

Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar spoke about the police welfare activities and lauded police personnel for their dedicated service towards protecting the interests of the public.

He emphasised the need for police personnel to discharge their duties transparently understanding their responsibilities properly.

On the occasion, police flags were symbolically released.

Mr. Prasad donated ₹ 1,11,600, Shantharaj Pol donated ₹1 lakh and the former Deputy Superintendent of Police Viresh Belavadi and Vithal Ladwa donated ₹50,000 each to the Police Welfare Fund.

Parade Commander RSI Santosh Bhojappagol led the march-past. Deputy Commissioners of Police C.R. Raveesh and Shruti N.S., Assistant Commissioner of Police Shivanand Chalavadi and others were present.
