Residents staging a protest in Srirangam on Thursday. | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement Members of various political parties, cutting across party lines, staged a protest in front the Rajagopuram in Srirangam on Thursday, seeking the intervention of the State government to resolve the long-pending dispute between a section of residents owners and Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple administration with respect to ownership of property around the temple. V. Jawahar, councillor of the Tiruchi Corporation representing Ward No. 2, presided over the protest. R. Manoharan, former MLA, Diamond Tirupati, Srirangam zone secretary (AIADMK), Ramkumar, Srirangam zone secretary (DMK), and members of the Congress, the MDMK, the Communist Part of India, and the Community Party of India (Marxist) participated in the protest.
