Remand prisoner escapes from sub-jail in Theni district

A 23-year-old man identified as R. Ganesan of Varushanadu in Theni district allegedly escaped while he was in police custody.

Police said on Saturday that two days ago, the accused, who had been serving as a remand prisoner in the jail, was taken to the court for extension of judicial custody. While they were returning to the sub-jail in the evening, the accused had reported of some uneasiness.
