To ensure the safety of devotees undertaking padayatra (pilgrimage on foot) to the Palani Murugan Temple, the district police have begun distributing reflective stickers to pilgrims.

Thousands of devotees are walking to Palani through National, State, and district highways across the district for the Thaipusam festival. The district police have deployed teams at 32 key locations along these routes and are distributing reflective stickers free of cost to enhance visibility during night travel.

Devotees are also being advised to walk safely along the sides of the roads and warned against sleeping on road margins, which could pose serious safety risks.

In addition, road safety awareness messages are being continuously broadcasted through public address systems fitted on highway patrol vehicles, urging pilgrims to follow traffic rules and complete their pilgrimage safely.

Superintendent of Police A. Sujatha has appealed to devotees to cooperate with the safety measures to ensure a safe and incident-free pilgrimage.
