Temporary ‘Red Zones’ have been announced at different places in Coimbatore city, prohibiting flying of remotely piloted aircraft systems/drones for 48 hours from 9 p.m. on February 13, the City Police informed on Thursday (February 12, 2026). Police sources said the restriction was imposed in view of the anniversary of 1998 serial blast on February 14 and scheduled visit of VVIPs to Isha Yoga Foundation for Maha Shivaratri celebrations the next day. In addition to the places where flying of drones is normally prohibited in the city, the restriction will apply to temporary Red Zones such as Singanallur, SIHS Colony, Chinniyampalayam, Nehru Nagar, airport junction, Peelamedu, Lakshmi Mills, Ramanathapuram, Race Course, Selvapuram, Gandhipuram, Veerakeralam, Saibaba Colony, Vadavalli and surround areas, said the police.
