Industries and IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu has expressed readiness to release a White Paper on the investment scenario in the State.

The White Paper will cover Memoranda of Understanding signed with companies, investments, list of companies that evinced interest in investing in the State and related aspects. “I am ready to release a White Paper. Our Government is working sincerely to promote investments and thereby, employment generation in the State,” he said.

Mr. Sridhar Babu termed as unjustified the Opposition’s malicious propaganda regarding investments in the State claiming that the Opposition party was unable to digest the fact that the Congress Government was successfully convincing companies to invest in the State. “I request the BRS members not to create obstacles, if they are unwilling to appreciate the Government’s efforts, for their selfish political ends,” he said. He was replying to a query during the Question Hour in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday.

Terming the Opposition campaign against the visits to Davos to attend the World Economic Forum meet and attract investment as baseless, he said the WEF is a powerful global platform to attract investments and delegations led by Chief Ministers of different States visit Davos every year. “Investments will not come if we remain in isolation. We have to present our strengths and opportunities we offer for industrialists to come forward and invest,” he said.

He added that the MoUs signed with companies would take time to materialise as several factors should be considered. “We have to do due diligence of the company’s track record, investment capability and other aspects after which the units will be grounded,” he said.

The Government, he said, was committed to development of industry in the Tier II and III cities and steps were being taken accordingly. The Government’s commitment could be seen from the fact that it had brought in a comprehensive MSME policy, the first of its kind since the formation of the State. Thanks to the Government’s efforts, the State had emerged as a role model for the country in providing last mile connectivity.

“The Central Government has complimented Telangana’s T-Fiber and asked other States to emulate it. T-Fiber enabled internet connectivity to all Rythu Vedikas and Government offices across the State,” he said.
