File photo of runway at Mysuru airport. Officials of various Government agencies carried out a re-survey of land for extension of runway at Mysuru airport between February 9 to 12. A statement from the Mysuru airport director P. V. Ushakumari said the re-survey was carried out in Marashe and Mandakalli villages, where the boundaries were marked and boundary stones have been laid. During a joint inspection carried out from December 15 to 17, 2025, by officials from Karnataka State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (KSIIDC), Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Limited (CNNL), Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Airports Authority of India (AAI) in connection with the acquisition of 206.12 acres of land for expansion of airport, ‘certain boundary stones were missing’. Hence, prior to proceeding with the acquisition of the said 206.12 acres of land, a letter was addressed to KSIIDC requesting that a re-survey be undertaken to identify and demarcate the boundaries and hand over the land accordingly, the Airport director said. Subsequently, the re-survey was conducted from February 9 to 12 and the boundaries were measured on the site with reference to the maps in the presence of officials from AAI, Senior GIS analyst, AAI and KIADB surveyor. “Now, KSSIDC, the nodal agency, needs to hand over the land to AAI free from encumbrance, since the local people opined that the compensation is yet to be received for building/house and trees”, the statement said.
