The honour was conferred on the State government at the World Water Day Conclave organised by the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi. State Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat said here on Friday (March 27, 2026) that the department had completed the compilation, verification and uploading of project-related data on the official portal in a time-bound manner. “The success is the result of an effective teamwork among the officials and engineers,” Mr. Rawat said. The Chief Engineer, State Water Resources Planning Department, received the shield and a certificate of appreciation at the conclave. Mr. Rawat said the task of carrying out the first census involved all the personnel, resulting in the achievement of a significant milestone in the State’s water resource management. The process was accelerated through the training sessions and workshops organised at various levels. Mr. Rawat said the work was completed ahead of schedule, demonstrating both administrative efficiency and a commitment to effective water management. Several census initiatives are underway across the country under the guidance of the Ministry of Jal Shakti with the objective of strengthening the management, planning and policy formulation regarding the water resources. They include the first census of major and medium irrigation projects, second census of water bodies, and the first census of springs. The Water Resources Department has been designated as the nodal department in Rajasthan for the first census, with the Director (Canals) appointed as the State Nodal Officer. The Revenue Department has been designated as the nodal department for other census exercises.
