Railwaymen stage protest in Madurai

Members of Southern Railway Mazdoor Union on Tuesday staged a demonstration condemning the railway administration for withholding various allowances to the railwaymen citing lack of budgetary allocation.

Addressing the protesters from across the division here, the union divisional secretary, J.M. Rafi, said that such a practice of withholding allowances was only in southern railway.

He said this is how the employees of BSNL started their suffering at the hands of the Centre.
