As part of intensified surveillance ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Crime Branch at Chennai Central intercepted two men carrying unaccounted valuables, valued approximately at ₹10,68,100. During intensive checks on platforms six and nine, RPF teams detained Abhilash, 32, of Tiruvallur and M. Paneer Selvam, 46, of Vellore after they were found acting suspiciously. During the search, the RPF personnel recovered 50 grams of gold, cut in pieces and valued at ₹6,87,500, and a total cash amount of ₹3,80,600. As neither individual could produce valid documentation for the valuables, the RPF seized the items and handed them over to the election flying squad for further legal action.
