In an emotionally written complaint, the complainant said his family was being targeted with cyberattacks. The MLA has not only tarnished the reputation of the family but also ruined the complainant’s family life, he claimed. In the complaint, he alleged that the MLA established an illicit relationship with his wife despite knowing that the woman was married. The complainant is demanding that a case be filed against the MLA under Section 84 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) (enticing, taking away, or detaining a married woman with criminal intent). The complainant said that taking advantage of his absence, the MLA allegedly “lured his wife into the trap”. The MLA had been claiming that he was trying to sort out some of the issues between the couple. However, if the intention was to resolve issues, he should have contacted him, said the petition. He also alleged in the complaint that he was “the real victim” in the case as he had to face a barrage of cyberattacks after the incident despite losing his family life. Though he is “mentally weak”, he is ready to proceed with the case, said the petition. If necessary, he will hand over more evidence, it added. Earlier, the special investigation team had recorded the statement of the husband in the wake of the complaint by the woman. Two rape cases have been registered Mr. Mamkootathil. The High Court is set to hold the final hearing on the MLA’s anticipatory bail plea next Wednesday.
