VELANKANNI RAJ Radio-tagging of Olive Ridley sea turtles along the Chennai coast has yielded early scientific evidence of nesting-site fidelity, as a satellite-tagged female turtle ‘Kayal’ has returned to the same shore three times during a single nesting season. Tagged and released at Besant Nagar, the turtle travelled south before navigating back to Chennai to nest repeatedly, laying a total of 389 eggs. Another tagged turtle, ‘Megalai’, returned twice and laid 211 eggs.
