Usha, a professor of Biotechnology at Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV), formally took charge as the varsity’s Registrar, on Thursday. She succeeds outgoing registrar N. Rajani. Ms. Usha formally assumed office in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor V. Uma, Deputy Registrar B. Geetha Vani and other teaching and non-teaching staff. She joined the varsity as a lecturer in 2001, became an associate professor in 2006, and had been serving as a professor since 2013. With over two decades of experience in teaching, research, academic leadership and university administration, she has also published 63 research articles and authored eight books/chapters, besides completing nine national research projects and holding two patents. Ms. Usha is a recipient of the University Best Teacher Award (2021) and the State Best Teacher Award (2024) conferred by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Speaking to the media, she said that all steps would be taken to bring the university within the top 100 in NIRF rankings. Emphasising the importance of all employees working in tandem, she offered to nurture a cohesive team to take the varsity to greater heights.
