The Kagaznagar rural police on Saturday arrested an unqualified medical practitioner for allegedly administering higher doses of injection to an ailing girl of Koyavagu village, resulting in her death recently. The police identified the accused as Bikshapathi, 44, a resident of Sirsilk Colony in Kagaznagar. Bikshapathi had been running a first-aid clinic in Koyavagu without requisite medical qualifications for many years, police said. He allegedly administered higher doses of injection to an ailing girl, identified as Akshara, who complained of recurring bouts of vomiting, in Koyavagu on November 11. When the girl’s health condition deteriorated, her parents admitted her to a private hospital in Hyderabad a few days later. She was subsequently shifted to another hospital in the city as she developed complications of kidney failure. The girl died while undergoing treatment at the hospital on December 29.
