The Lokayukta police have arrested second division assistant Sampath, working in the office of Assistant Executive Engineer (Electrical), Public Works Department, Mangaluru, for allegedly accepting ₹22,600 from a licenced electrical contractor. In a release, the Lokyukta police said the complainant had executed in 2025, the work of extension of street lights for gram panchayats in Udupi district. To clear the bill, Sampath demanded a bribe of 4% of the billed amount, which amounted to ₹22,600.
