Police were summoned to prevent the Congress workers from barging into the residence of Puducherry Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee chief V. Vaithilingam at Candappamudaliar Street as a mark of protest against alleged discrepancies in ticket distribution for the Assembly polls in Puducherry on Monday. The workers raised slogans against Mr. Vaithilingam for denying party ticket to former Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy from Nellithope constituency. Congress workers from Nettapakkam also protested in front of his house for ignoring the claims of a party functionary Harikrishnan to contest from the constituency. As the party workers became unruly and tried to barge into Mr. Vaithilingam’s residence, the police were summoned to remove the Congress functionaries from the vicinity.
