The Puducherry team defeated Andaman team by 34 runs in the final to emerge winners of the All Indian Police South Zone T-20 Cricket Tournament, at Mulapadu ACA Stadium, here on Tuesday.

Batting first, Puducherry scored 192 runs at the loss of nine wickets, while Andaman team were bundled out for 158 runs in 18.3 overs.

Overall, 10 teams participated in the tournament, organised by Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP), Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) and a few educational institutions.

Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta handed over the trophy to the winners at the APSP Battalion at Mangalagiri.

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said the tournament was organised on a grand scale and thousands of cricket lovers enjoyed the five-day tournament. “The 2ndAll India Police South Zone T-20 Cricket Tournament gave much relief to the police, who are always busy with their duties,” Mr. Harish Kumar Gupta said. He congratulated the winners and the runners-up.

Additional DG (Law and Order) N. Madhusudhan Reddy, IGPs (Sports) K.V. Mohan Rao, Ch. Srikanth, B. Raja Kumari, M. Ravi Prakash and S.V. Rajashekar Babu and others participated.
