The Kalaburagi district unit of Ambedkar Jayanti Utsav Samiti will organise a three-day programme from April 12 to 14 at Jagat Circle here to mark the 135th birth anniversary of B.R. Ambedkar.

Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, samiti working president Mallappa Hosamani said that the celebrations will include public meetings, lectures and felicitation of meritorious students.

On April 12, a cricket tournament will be inaugurated at Deekshabhoomi Ground by Police Commissioner Sharanappa S.D.

City Corporation Commissioner Avinash Shinde will be the chief guest.

Public meetings will be held in the evenings during the three days at Jagat Circle.

Religious leaders, scholars and progressive thinkers are expected to participate.

Achievers from various fields and students will be felicitated on the occasion. Playback singers from the film industry will be performing during the cultural events.

On April 14, the samiti will organise a blood donation camp as part of the birth anniversary celebrations.

A procession will also be taken out from the Central Bus Stand to Jagat Circle.

District president of the Utsav Samiti Ashok Veeranayak, honorary president Dasharath Babu Vanti and others were present.
