Puthiya Tamilagam founder-president K. Krishnasamy on Friday expressed confidence that his party would win in 10 to 15 assembly constituencies, including Ottapidaram (SC) and Tirunelveli.

Addressing the media at Thoothukudi airport, he said that the party has no regrets about not being included in any alliance.

“It is true that we made efforts to form a strong alliance, as good governance in Tamil Nadu requires a strong coalition. With that effort I took strong efforts on behalf of Puthiya Tamilagam Party,” he added.

However, those leading the alliance failed to act responsibly resulting in the possibility of forming a mega alliance, he added.

Mr. Krishnasamy noted that the party would contest in 70 assembly constituencies, including Ottapidaram (SC) and Tirunelveli. “We will present detailed promises in our election manifesto,” he added.

Criticising the State government, he said that the shortcomings and failures of the past five years would be strongly raised in the assembly. He also pointed out that people in rural areas are voicing concerns against illegal mining.

“Women across villages are repeatedly asking whether Tasmac liquor shops will be closed. We will raise a strong voice in the assembly to shut down those outlets,” Mr. Krishnasamy observed.

He announced that the party would file nominations on April 6.
