Close to 4,500 people took part in protest organised in Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts on Thursday (February 12, 2026) against the Central government for its anti-labour and anti-farmer policies.

As man as 2,227 people, including 541 women, staged protests at eight locations in Coimbatore district and 2,276 workers took part in the protests held in Tiruppur district. They protested against the four labour codes, draft Seed Act, and so on and demanded minimum wages of ₹26,000 for all workers.

Members of the National Federation of Indian Women, All India Youth Federation, All India Students’ Federation, and Tamil Nadu Oppressed People’s Movement staged a rail roko in Coimbatore as part of the nation-wide protests. In Tiruppur, about 25% workers abstained from work at the units located at SIDCO industrial estates.
