Tension prevailed at Ashok Nagar in Hyderabad on Thursday (January 8, 2025) evening following a sudden protest by youth over the delay in issuance of a job calendar by the Telangana government. There was a similar protest in Dilsukhnagar area the previous day. Police said eight to 10 student leaders, without prior permission, led the protest following which a large number of job aspirants assembled and marched from the City Central Library in Chikkadpally to Ashok Nagar crossroads after which they were detained. The protesters raised slogans demanding the immediate release of the job calendar and recruitment to two lakh posts. As the demonstrators obstructed roads at the busy junction, police intervened and took several protesters into custody as a preventive measure. Traffic was briefly disrupted in the area and additional police forces were deployed to prevent the situation from escalating.
