West Godavari district Joint Collector T. Rahul Kumar Reddy on Saturday directed officials of the Irrigation and Revenue Departments to protect 362.21 acres of waterbodies from encroachments across the district. Reviewing the situation with officials here, Mr. Rahul Kumar Reddy said that only 35 acres of encroachments had been cleared by the end of March, against the total extent identified. He set a target of removing encroachments on 100 acres every month. As many as 7,458 instances of encroachments on waterbodies have been recorded across the district.
