The Cyberabad police have imposed prohibitory orders in parts of Serilingampally Zone in view of the upcoming indirect elections to the posts of chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of municipalities scheduled for 16 February. In a notification issued on February 13, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Serilingampally Zone, Ch. Srinivas, stated that the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will remain in force until the completion of the indirect elections, as per the notification issued by the State Election Commission. To prevent the formation of camps, congregations and unauthorised gatherings during the intervening period, prohibitory orders, under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), prohibit the assembly of more than three persons in any private or public place without prior intimation to the competent authority. The restrictions apply within the limits of Isnapur and Indresham municipalities under Patancheru police station, and Gaddapotharam municipality under IDA Bollaram police station limits. Similar restrictions have been imposed in select areas of the Quthbullapur zone in Cyberabad. In a notification issued on February 13, In-charge DCP Quthbullapur Zone, T. Sai Manohar, prohibited the assembly of more than four persons in any private or public place without prior intimation to the competent authority. The restrictions apply within the limits of Yellampet municipality under Medchal police station, Aliyabad municipality and Kolutur village of Muduchintalapally municipality under Genome Valley police station limits in Cyberabad. In Malkajgiri zone, DCP CH. Sridhar issued orders prohibiting the assembly of more than five persons in any private or public place without prior intimation to the competent authority within the limits of Muduchintalapally municipality under the Shamirpet police station. The prohibitory orders will remain in force from 5 a.m. on 14 February until 5 p.m. on 16 February. Police said that any gathering in violation of the Model Code of Conduct would attract strict action. Immediate notices will be issued in cases of MCC violations, and further action will be taken in accordance with the declarations furnished by candidates and the applicable election laws. The orders came into force at 5 a.m. on February 13 and will remain operative until 12 p.m. on 16 February. Any person found violating the prohibitory orders will be liable for prosecution under the relevant provisions of law.
