Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Wayanad MP, on Thursday blamed the State government for the alleged delay in starting the Congress’ housing project for the survivors of the Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslides in Wayanad .

She told the media in Wayanad after attending a meeting that the people in Kerala wanted a change in government and hoped that it would be brought about. Ms. Vadra claimed she had done a lot towards the rehabilitation of the survivors of the Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslide, both personally and through the party.

She expressed the hope that the construction of the houses would be completed on time. “There was a lot of delay due to paperwork and land issues. Fortunately, we have been able to resolve them. So hopefully, we will be able to complete it soon,” Ms. Vadra said.

She alleged that the State government had dragged its feet on land allotment, which delayed the project. “Had they been more cooperative at that point, we would have been able to do it earlier,” Ms. Vadra said.

Asked about the welfare works in her constituency, she said she was satisfied with the efforts, but said there were delays in the allocation and release of funds. “The Central government funds are very slow. In some cases, even the State government’s is slow. But more than that, the Central government is slowing down funding for many schemes, which is causing delays,” Ms. Vadra said.
