All Fire and Rescue Services Stations in Madurai district will begin a training programme on basic fire‑fighting for private security personnel on Monday.

A statement said that Director of the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services Department, Seema Agarwal, had said that private security personnel employed in industrial units, hospitals, malls, educational institutions and apartments should be trained in fire-fighting techniques to minimise loss of life and properties during fire accidents.

Based on her instructions, all the 15 fire and rescue stations in the district would conduct the training programme on their premises for 10 days between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. beginning Monday.

The statement urged private security personnel to participate in the programme to gain first-hand knowledge on fire-fighting.

The participants would be issued certificates on completion of the training.

Southern Region Deputy Director, S. Kumar, and Madurai District Officer, Venkataramanan, would formally inaugurate the event at Tallakulam Fire and Rescue Station on Monday.
