Premium petrol users in Bengaluru are feeling the heat after fuel companies increased prices by around ₹2 to ₹2.35 per litre. At several petrol bunks across the city, premium petrol is now being sold at approximately ₹112.35 per litre, up from ₹110. Despite the hike in premium fuel, the price of regular petrol and diesel remains unchanged across Bengaluru. A petrol bunk owner in Bilekahalli said that the revised rates came into effect from Friday, following a price increase by oil companies. “Only premium petrol prices have been increased, while all other fuel rates remain the same,” he clarified. The hike has drawn strong reactions from vehicle users, many of whom are reconsidering their fuel choices due to rising costs and ongoing global tensions. Jayadev N., a vehicle user from Arekere, said, “I have been using premium petrol as it helps maintain the engine better and provides good mileage. However, with this sudden price hike, I have decided to switch to regular petrol. The increasing fuel cost is becoming difficult to manage on a daily basis”. Another commuter, Anand R. from J.P. Nagar, expressed concern over the broader economic impact. “Our salaries are not increasing, but inflation is rising every day. Due to the ongoing West Asia conflict, there is already an LPG crisis, and now this premium petrol price hike is another jolt. I feel the government is holding back a revision in all fuel prices due to upcoming elections in other States. Once that is over, everything may be hiked, which will hit the middle class hard,” he said.
