Prasanth Ezhavan, who directed the film Oru Jaathi Pillerishta, has been chosen for the first P.K. Rosy Film Award instituted by the P.K. Rosy Foundation in memory of the first female actor in Malayalam cinema. The film is set in the background of the reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and its impact on students from Dalit and Other Backward Classes. The jury observed that the director has used the medium as a tool for social transformation.
