Post-mortem report rules out foul play in social media influencer Chinnu Pappu’s death

The death of social media influencer Reshma, popularly known as Chinnu Pappu, 24, on Monday (February 9, 2026) has been confirmed as a case of suicide, according to the post-mortem examination report release on Tuesday (February 10, 2026). Officials said the examination found no evidence of force or assault, and no external injuries or abnormal marks on the body.

To ascertain the exact cause of death, viscera samples have been sent to a Kozhikode laboratory for chemical analysis. The police said clarity on use of any toxic substance will emerge only after the report is received.

Investigators are also probing whether there were any underlying reasons or external instigation linked to the death.

The family has alleged that Chinnu Pappu took the extreme step following a dispute with a male friend. In this connection, the police said, an 18-year-old man will be questioned and his statement recorded. Digital evidence, including mobile phone data will also be examined.

The influencer was found dead at her rented residence in the Choori area of Uliyathduka on Monday. Following information, the police reached the spot, conducted preliminary procedures and shifted the body to the Kasaragod General Hospital for post-mortem.

While initial reports suggested family-related issues as the reason for the death, the family has refuted these claims and urged the public to refrain from spreading misinformation. The police said a final conclusion will be drawn only after the chemical analysis report and completion of investigation procedures.
