In order to clear the extra rush of passengers during the Sankranti festival season, South Western Railway has decided to run two special express trains between Mysuru and Tuticorin. Train No. 06283 Mysuru-Tuticorin Express Special will depart from Mysuru at 18:35 hrs on Friday and Tuesday and arrive at Tuticorin at 11:00 hrs on the next day. Train No. 06284 Tuticorin–Mysuru Express Special will leave Tuticorin at 14:00 hrs on Saturday and Wednesday and reach Mysuru at 07:45 hrs on the next day, a release said. En route, both trains will have stoppages at Mandya, Maddur, Channapatna, Ramanagaram, Kengeri, K.S.R. Bengaluru, Bangalore Cant, Hosur, Dharmapuri, Salem Jn., Namakkal, Karur Jn., Dindigul Jn., Madurai Jn., Virudunagar Jn., Satur, Kovilpatti, Tuti Melur stations in both directions.
