Ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, who also serves as the District Election Officer, carried out a detailed inspection of key polling stations across Coimbatore city on Friday.

The visit covered Kurichi V.S. Sengottaiya Memorial Higher Secondary School and Sundarapuram Sri Visveshwara Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School under the Kinathukadavu Assembly constituency, and Kuniyamuthur Government Higher Secondary School under the Thondamuthur Assembly constituency.

The officials examined the readiness of each polling station, checking essential facilities such as seating, ramps for differently-abled voters, electricity, drinking water, and toilets. Security measures, including access control and crowd management, were also closely reviewed.

The Collector was accompanied by Coimbatore City Police Commissioner N. Kannan and senior police and revenue officials.

After the inspection, the team proceeded to the Government Women’s Polytechnic College, where Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the 117-Kavundampalayam Assembly constituency will be securely stored. The District Collector reviewed the arrangements in the EVM security room, ensuring that protocols for safe storage and handling are in place ahead of polling day.
