The Bhavanipuram police on Friday (March 6, 2026) registered a case against the staff of a day-care centre in Vidyadharapuram, Vijayawada, for allegedly causing burns to a girl child. The four-year-old girl, who sustained burns on her private parts, is fighting for her life in a private hospital. She reportedly informed her parents that a teacher caused the burns. Acting on a complaint lodged by the girl’s mother, the police registered a case against the staff of the day-care centre and took up investigation. “We dropped the girl at the centre on February 23. Around 11:45 a.m., a caretaker called and asked us to bring another dress for the child. When we reached the centre, we found her undressed, with injuries under her chin and on other private parts,” the girl’s mother stated in the complaint. Speaking to the media on Friday, the girl’s parents urged the authorities to take stern action against the culprits.
