Jagadeesh supervising the cordon and search operations as part of Operation Vajra Prahar in Kurnool on Saturday. | Photo Credit: ARRANGEMENT Cordon and search operations were conducted in Anantapur, Nandyal and Kurnool districts on Saturday as part of State-wide crackdown against drug abuse, trafficking and other criminal activities under Operation Vajra Prahar. In Anantapur, Superintendent of Police (SP) P. Jagadeesh supervised the mega cordon and search operation conducted in the city, focusing on sensitive areas to ensure public safety and enforce law and order. The operation focused on sensitive areas including Shikari Colony and Buddappa Nagar, where 100 police personnel and special teams participated in vehicle inspections and house checks. Police seized 15 bottles of alcohol kept illegally for sale, confiscated 24 two-wheelers and two autorickshaws with invalid or missing documents, identified suspicious persons and interrogated them, and collected information about criminals involved in old cases. Mr. Jagadeesh held discussions with local residents and said that any involvement in ganja, other drugs, theft, rowdyism, or any other unlawful activity will lead to strict legal action. He said criminals continuing illegal activities will face heightened monitoring and enforcement. He appealed to the youth to choose a positive and responsible path, avoiding drugs and asked the public to create a drug-free society. Residents were urged to report any information regarding ganja or other drugs in their area to the A.P. EAGLE toll-free number 1972, and were assured that the informants’ identities would remain strictly confidential. In Kurnool, the cordon and search operation was conducted in Bangarupeta, during which 350 litres jaggery wash and 50 litres arrack was seized. Kurnool Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) J. Babu Prasad said that those involved in illegal liquor manufacturing should refrain from such activities or else face action. In Nandyal, the cordon and search operations were conducted at the railway station, goods shed, and other places under the supervision of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) M. Jhavali.
