Nikhil distributed the caps to staff members from various police stations, the District Armed Reserve, the Wireless Unit, and the district head office. The State Government, in August 2025, approved the proposal to replace the slouch hats with the navy blue peaked caps. The government chose the new caps after reviewing those worn by staff in other states. Many in the department felt that the slouch hats were uncomfortable, and the change had been a long-pending proposal. However, senior officers in the department continue to wear khaki peaked caps. Additional SPs S. Ramesh Kumar, A.G. Cariappa and others were present at the ceremony.
