Satish Kumar inaugurating Sankranti festivities at the District Police Office in Puttaparthi of Sri Sathya Sai district on Tuesday. | Photo Credit: By Arrangement The Sri Sathya Sai district police office (DPO) on Tuesday (January 13, 2025) celebrated Sankranti, highlighting the rural-themed festivities that reflected cultural heritage and community bonding. Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar and his wife Dharani were welcomed by Additional SP Ankita Surani. The SP couple inaugurated the celebrations by lighting the Bhogi bonfire, which symbolises the heralding of the harvest festival. The premises was decorated in village theme featuring bullock carts, and families of police personnel and women constables made Rangolis and participated in folk games and dances. Police personnel from the sub-divisions of Dharmavaram, Puttaparthi, Penukonda, and Hindupur took part in the celebrations, dressed in traditional attires. The families participated in kite-flying and pot-breaking events. Interacting with the police personnel and their family members, SP Satish Kumar said that Sankranti, “is a grand symbol of unity, and celebrating it collectively strengthens bonds within the police fraternity, and further paves the way for a people-friendly administration.” Festivals offer police relief from their occupational stress and boost their morale, he added. On the occasion, the organisers conducted Rangoli competitions. Winners of various contests were presented with prizes. The SP extended Sankranti greetings to the people and police families, reiterating commitment of the police to social connection and inclusiveness.
