Centre and the State are in constant coordination to expedite the Polavaram project, keeping in view its national importance, says PPA CEO Yogesh Paithankar

Polavaram Project Authority(PPA) Chief Executive Officer Yogesh Paithankar said on Saturday that the Centre and the State governments were committed to completing the Polavaram project within the stipulated timeframe. He instructed officials and the executing agency to prepare and strictly adhere to a structured action plan for timely execution of all components.

At a review meeting at the project site, Mr. Paithankar said that all necessary design approvals and statutory clearances would be granted at the earliest. He reiterated that the Centre and the State were in constant coordination to expedite the project, keeping in view its national importance.

Earlier in the day, the PPA CEO inspected key construction components, including Gap-1, Gap-2 and Earth-Cum-Rock Fill dam works. Officials from the Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Department and Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited briefed him on the ongoing activities and milestones achieved so far.

Mr. Paithankar also reviewed the progress of rehabilitation and resettlement of project-affected families and stressed the need for time-bound completion. PPA Chief Engineer M. Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Director Praveen Verma, WRD Engineer-in-Chief K. Narasimha Murthy, Superintending Engineers R. Ramachandra Rao and Tirumala Rao, Chief Engineer (Quality Control) Seshu Babu, Executive Engineers Balakrishna, Srinivas, Narasimha Rao, and Prem Chand, along with MEIL General Manager A. Gangadhar and Deputy General Manager P. Murali, attended.
