The redeveloped Tiruvarur and Manapparai railway stations, which were given a complete makeover under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), were inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through video conferencing from Madurai on Sunday.  Local ceremonial functions were organised at the two stations in which elected representatives, senior railway officers, and the general public participated.

The Tiruvarur Railway Junction, falling under the Tiruchi Railway Division, has been redeveloped at a cost of ₹15.03 crore. A new entrance arch, improved approach road with dedicated pedestrian pathways, enhanced station facade with separate arrival and departure porches, revamped circulating area with landscaped greenery, new portico, renovated air-conditioned waiting hall, upgraded platform shelters, and train and coach information display boards are among the key enhancements at the station.  The station has been made fully accessible with reserved parking for persons with disabilities, ramps for barrier-free access, low-level booking counters, and accessible toilets and drinking water facilities.
