Plans afoot to develop Silver Beach in Cuddalore as a tourist destination

The Silver Beach in Cuddalore will soon be developed into a tourist-friendly destination. The Cuddalore District Administration has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a private player for establishment of recreational amenities in the beach.

According to official sources, the MoU was signed at the Tamil Nadu Global Tourism Summit 2026, held in Chennai, recently. Under this agreement, the Silver Beach will be upgraded to attract more local residents and tourists. The proposed facilities, include a park, parking area, modern recreational amenities, food court, improved road infrastructure, and a sales outlet for women self-help groups.

Pondy Marina, a private firm will be investing ₹15 crore over the next few years. A detailed project report will be submitted on the initiative aimed to enhance the beach’s appeal and cater to the increasing number of visitors. The initiative will help improve local economy and promote tourism, the administration said.
